Scholarship

The biggest challenge all filmmakers face is funding. So we thought if the festival is to achieve its long term goal of creating new filmmakers in the Tees Valley then we need to offer the beginnings of a solution to that challenge. Having funded a short film in June 2022 by a previous TVIFF nominee, we decided to build on that initiative and throw it open to everyone and from here TVIFF Scholarship was born.

The TVIFF Scholarship will give £3000 to a person or group to make a short film that will then receive a glittering premiere at next year's festival. The winner will be announced on the final night of the festival and receive an award from Robson Green. They will then have a year to make their film with full creative freedom.

To apply for the TVIFF Scholarship, please send us your script, pitch deck and breakdown of how the £3000 will be spent, using the form on this page. Four finalists will be selected and invited to an interview that will take place during the first three days of the festival. The winner will be announced on the final night of the festival and receive an award from Robson Green. The winner will have a year to make their film with full creative freedom and all the technical or human support they need.
